COMPETING COUNTRIES

 

Behind the scenes of the first Bread-Making Contest
Twelve countries were selected:

Algeria, Argentina, Belgium, China, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Lebanon, South Korea and Switzerland.  Fabien Poncet, the baker from Lyons will be representing the French colours.
Each country will be represented by a team comprised of a candidate with at least five years professional experience and an assistant-commis chef under 22 years old.
On d-day theses teams will have eight hours to make several types of bread in the categories «bread of the world» (French baguettes, nutritional and health breads and bread typical of the candidate’s country of origin), «viennoiseries» (raised puff-dough, raised dough) and an «artistic arrangement». A buffet presentation will be laid out at the end of the events
